Twentieth Sunday in Ordinary Time

A reading from the Holy Gospel according to

John 6: 51-58                                                                      

Jesus said to the crowds: “I am the living bread that came down from heaven; whoever eats this bread will live forever; and the bread that I will give is my flesh for the life of the world.” The Jews quarreled among themselves, saying, “How can this man give us his flesh to eat?” Jesus said to them, “Amen, amen, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you do not have life within you. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him on the last day. For my flesh is true food, and my blood is true drink. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me and I in him. Just as the living Father sent me and I have life because of the Father, so also the one who feeds on me will have life because of me. This is the bread that came down from heaven. Unlike your ancestors who ate and still died, whoever eats this bread will live forever.”

The Gospel of the LORD                

اَلْمَزْمُورِ.                                                                                                 هَلِّلُويَا.

ِ إِنْجِيلُ يُوحَنَّا                                الأصحَاحُ السَّادِسُ

⁵¹أَنَا هُوَ الْخُبْزُ الْحَيُّ الَّذِي نَزَلَ مِنَ السَّمَاءِ. إِنْ أَكَلَ أَحَدٌ مِنْ هذَا الْخُبْزِ يَحْيَا إِلَى الأَبَدِ. وَالْخُبْزُ الَّذِي أَنَا أُعْطِي هُوَ جَسَدِي الَّذِي أَبْذِلُهُ مِنْ أَجْلِ حَيَاةِ الْعَالَمِ».⁵²فَخَاصَمَ الْيَهُودُ بَعْضُهُمْ بَعْضًا قَائِلِينَ:«كَيْفَ يَقْدِرُ هذَا أَنْ يُعْطِيَنَا جَسَدَهُ لِنَأْكُلَ؟» ⁵³فَقَالَ لَهُمْ يَسُوعُ:«الْحَقَّ الْحَقَّ أَقُولُ لَكُمْ: إِنْ لَمْ تَأْكُلُوا جَسَدَ ابْنِ الإِنْسَانِ وَتَشْرَبُوا دَمَهُ، فَلَيْسَ لَكُمْ حَيَاةٌ فِيكُمْ. ⁵⁴مَنْ يَأْكُلُ جَسَدِي وَيَشْرَبُ دَمِي فَلَهُ حَيَاةٌ أَبَدِيَّةٌ، وَأَنَا أُقِيمُهُ فِي الْيَوْمِ الأَخِيرِ، ⁵⁵لأَنَّ جَسَدِي مَأْكَلٌ حَق÷ وَدَمِي مَشْرَبٌ حَق÷. ⁵⁶مَنْ يَأْكُلْ جَسَدِي وَيَشْرَبْ دَمِي يَثْبُتْ فِيَّ وَأَنَا فِيهِ. ⁵⁷كَمَا أَرْسَلَنِي الآبُ الْحَيُّ، وَأَنَا حَيٌّ بِالآبِ، فَمَنْ يَأْكُلْنِي فَهُوَ يَحْيَا بِي. ⁵⁸هذَا هُوَ الْخُبْزُ الَّذِي نَزَلَ مِنَ السَّمَاءِ. لَيْسَ كَمَا أَكَلَ آبَاؤُكُمُ الْمَنَّ وَمَاتُوا. مَنْ يَأْكُلْ هذَا الْخُبْزَ فَإِنَّهُ يَحْيَا إِلَى الأَبَدِ».

Proverbs 9: 1-6

Wisdom has built her house, she has set up her seven columns; she has dressed her meat, mixed her wine, yes, she has spread her table. She has sent out her maidens; she calls from the heights out over the city: “Let whoever is simple turn in here; To the one who lacks understanding, she says, Come, eat of my food, and drink of the wine I have mixed! Forsake foolishness that you may live;
advance in the way of understanding.”            

The word of the LORD                                                       

رِسَالَةُ بُولُسَ الرَّسُولِ إِلَى أَهْلِ أَفَسُسَ

الأصحَاحُ الْخَامِسُ

¹⁵فَانْظُرُوا كَيْفَ تَسْلُكُونَ بِالتَّدْقِيقِ، لاَ كَجُهَلاَءَ بَلْ كَحُكَمَاءَ، ¹⁶مُفْتَدِينَ الْوَقْتَ لأَنَّ الأَيَّامَ شِرِّيرَةٌ. ¹⁷مِنْ أَجْلِ ذلِكَ لاَ تَكُونُوا أَغْبِيَاءَ بَلْ فَاهِمِينَ مَا هِيَ مَشِيئَةُ الرَّبِّ. ¹⁸وَلاَ تَسْكَرُوا بِالْخَمْرِ الَّذِي فِيهِ الْخَلاَعَةُ، بَلِ امْتَلِئُوا بِالرُّوحِ، ¹⁹مُكَلِّمِينَ بَعْضُكُمْ بَعْضًا بِمَزَامِيرَ وَتَسَابِيحَ وَأَغَانِيَّ رُوحِيَّةٍ، مُتَرَنِّمِينَ وَمُرَتِّلِينَ فِي قُلُوبِكُمْ لِلرَّبِّ. ²⁰شَاكِرِينَ كُلَّ حِينٍ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ فِي اسْمِ رَبِّنَا يَسُوعَ الْمَسِيحِ، ِللهِ وَالآبِ. ِ

A reading from the Holy Gospel according to

Luke 1:39-56          

Mary set out and traveled to the hill country in haste to a town of Judah, where she entered the house of Zechariah and greeted Elizabeth. When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the infant leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth, filled with the Holy Spirit, cried out in a loud voice and said, “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb. And how does this happen to me,
that the mother of my Lord should come to me? For at the moment the sound of your greeting reached my ears, the infant in my womb leaped for joy. Blessed are you who believed that what was spoken to you by the Lord would be fulfilled.” And Mary said: “My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord; my spirit rejoices in God my Savior for he has looked with favor on his lowly servant.
From this day all generations will call me blessed: the Almighty has done great things for me and holy is his Name. He has mercy on those who fear him in every generation. He has shown the strength of his arm, and has scattered the proud in their conceit. He has cast down the mighty from their thrones, and has lifted up the lowly. He has filled the hungry with good things, and the rich he has sent away empty. He has come to the help of his servant Israel for he has remembered his promise of mercy, the promise he made to our fathers, to Abraham and his children forever.” Mary remained with her about three months and then returned to her home.

The Gospel of the LORD               

اَلْمَزْمُورِ.                                        

   هَلِّلُويَا.

ِ إِنْجِيلُ لُوقَا                      الأصحَاحُ الأَوَّلُ

³⁹فَقَامَتْ مَرْيَمُ فِي تِلْكَ الأَيَّامِ وَذَهَبَتْ بِسُرْعَةٍ إِلَى الْجِبَالِ إِلَى مَدِينَةِ يَهُوذَا، ⁴⁰وَدَخَلَتْ بَيْتَ زَكَرِيَّا وَسَلَّمَتْ عَلَى أَلِيصَابَاتَ. ⁴¹فَلَمَّا سَمِعَتْ أَلِيصَابَاتُ سَلاَمَ مَرْيَمَ ارْتَكَضَ الْجَنِينُ فِي بَطْنِهَا، وَامْتَلأَتْ أَلِيصَابَاتُ مِنَ الرُّوحِ الْقُدُسِ، ⁴²وَصَرَخَتْ بِصَوْتٍ عَظِيمٍ⁴³فَمِنْ أَيْنَ لِي هذَا أَنْ تَأْتِيَ أُمُّ رَبِّي إِلَيَّ؟ ⁴⁴فَهُوَذَا حِينَ صَارَ صَوْتُ سَلاَمِكِ فِي أُذُنَيَّ ارْتَكَضَ الْجَنِينُ بِابْتِهَاجٍ فِي بَطْنِي⁴⁵فَطُوبَى لِلَّتِي آمَنَتْ أَنْ يَتِمَّ مَا قِيلَ لَهَا مِنْ قِبَلِ الرَّبِّ». ⁴⁶فَقَالَتْ مَرْيَمُ:«تُعَظِّمُ نَفْسِي الرَّبَّ، ⁴⁷وَتَبْتَهِجُ رُوحِي بِاللهِ مُخَلِّصِي، ⁴⁸لأَنَّهُ نَظَرَ إِلَى اتِّضَاعِ أَمَتِهِ. فَهُوَذَا مُنْذُ الآنَ جَمِيعُ الأَجْيَالِ تُطَوِّبُنِي، ⁴⁹لأَنَّ الْقَدِيرَ صَنَعَ بِي عَظَائِمَ، وَاسْمُهُ قُدُّوسٌ، ⁵⁰وَرَحْمَتُهُ إِلَى جِيلِ الأَجْيَالِ لِلَّذِينَ يَتَّقُونَهُ. ⁵¹صَنَعَ قُوَّةً بِذِرَاعِهِ. شَتَّتَ الْمُسْتَكْبِرِينَ بِفِكْرِ قُلُوبِهِمْ. ⁵²أَنْزَلَ الأَعِزَّاءَ عَنِ الْكَرَاسِيِّ وَرَفَعَ الْمُتَّضِعِينَ. ⁵³أَشْبَعَ الْجِيَاعَ خَيْرَاتٍ وَصَرَفَ الأَغْنِيَاءَ فَارِغِينَ. ⁵⁴عَضَدَ إِسْرَائِيلَ فَتَاهُ لِيَذْكُرَ رَحْمَةً، ⁵⁵كَمَا كَلَّمَ آبَاءَنَا. لإِبْراهِيمَ وَنَسْلِهِ إِلَى الأَبَدِ». ⁵⁶فَمَكَثَتْ مَرْيَمُ عِنْدَهَا نَحْوَ ثَلاَثَةِ أَشْهُرٍ، ثُمَّ رَجَعَتْ إِلَى بَيْتِهَا.وَقَالَتْ:«مُبَارَكَةٌ أَنْتِ فِي النِّسَاءِ وَمُبَارَكَةٌ هِيَ ثَمَرَةُ بَطْنِكِ!

The Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary

Revelation 11:19,12:1-6,10

God’s temple in heaven was opened, and the ark of his covenant could be seen in the temple. A great sign appeared in the sky, a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars. She was with child and wailed aloud in pain as she labored to give birth. Then another sign appeared in the sky; it was a huge red dragon, with seven heads and ten horns, and on its heads were seven diadems. Its tail swept away a third of the stars in the sky and hurled them down to the earth. Then the dragon stood before the woman about to give birth, to devour her child when she gave birth. She gave birth to a son, a male child, destined to rule all the nations with an iron rod. Her child was caught up to God and his throne. The woman herself fled into the desert where she had a place prepared by God. Then I heard a loud voice in heaven say: “Now have salvation and power come, and the Kingdom of our God and the authority of his Anointed One.”

 الأصحَاحُ الْخَامِسُ عَشَرَ

وَلكِنِ الآنَ قَدْ قَامَ الْمَسِيحُ مِنَ الأَمْوَاتِ وَصَارَ بَاكُورَةَ الرَّاقِدِينَ. ²¹فَإِنَّهُ إِذِ الْمَوْتُ بِإِنْسَانٍ، بِإِنْسَانٍ أَيْضًا قِيَامَةُ الأَمْوَاتِ. ²²لأَنَّهُ كَمَا فِي آدَمَ يَمُوتُ الْجَمِيعُ، هكَذَا فِي الْمَسِيحِ سَيُحْيَا الْجَمِيعُ. ²³وَلكِنَّ كُلَّ وَاحِدٍ فِي رُتْبَتِهِ: الْمَسِيحُ بَاكُورَةٌ، ثُمَّ الَّذِينَ لِلْمَسِيحِ فِي مَجِيئِهِ. ²⁴وَبَعْدَ ذلِكَ النِّهَايَةُ، مَتَى سَلَّمَ الْمُلْكَ ِللهِ الآبِ، مَتَى أَبْطَلَ كُلَّ رِيَاسَةٍ وَكُلَّ سُلْطَانٍ وَكُلَّ قُوَّةٍ. ²⁵لأَنَّهُ يَجِبُ أَنْ يَمْلِكَ حَتَّى يَضَعَ جَمِيعَ الأَعْدَاءِ تَحْتَ قَدَمَيْهِ. ²⁶آخِرُ عَدُوٍّ يُبْطَلُ هُوَ الْمَوْتُ. ²⁷لأَنَّهُ أَخْضَعَ كُلَّ شَيْءٍ تَحْتَ قَدَمَيْهِ. وَلكِنْ حِينَمَا يَقُولُ :«إِنَّ كُلَّ شَيْءٍ قَدْ أُخْضِعَ» فَوَاضِحٌ أَنَّهُ غَيْرُ الَّذِي أَخْضَعَ لَهُ الْكُلَّ.
