Twenty-seventh Sunday in Ordinary Time

The first reading from

Genesis 2: 18-24

The LORD God said: “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a suitable partner for him.” So the LORD God formed out of the ground various wild animals and various birds of the air, and he brought them to the man to see what he would call them;
whatever the man called each of them would be its name. The man gave names to all the cattle, all the birds of the air, and all wild animals; but none proved to be the suitable partner for the man.

اَلرِّسَالَةُ إِلَى الْعِبْرَانِيِّينَ

الأصحَاحُ الثَّانِي بركاته علي جميعنا آمين

⁹وَلكِنَّ الَّذِي وُضِعَ قَلِيلاً عَنِ الْمَلاَئِكَةِ، يَسُوعَ، نَرَاهُ مُكَلَّلاً بِالْمَجْدِ وَالْكَرَامَةِ، مِنْ أَجْلِ أَلَمِ الْمَوْتِ، لِكَيْ يَذُوقَ بِنِعْمَةِ اللهِ الْمَوْتَ لأَجْلِ كُلِّ وَاحِدٍ. ¹⁰لأَنَّهُ لاَقَ بِذَاكَ الَّذِي مِنْ أَجْلِهِ الْكُلُّ وَبِهِ الْكُلُّ، وَهُوَ آتٍ بِأَبْنَاءٍ كَثِيرِينَ إِلَى الْمَجْدِ، أَنْ يُكَمِّلَ رَئِيسَ خَلاَصِهِمْ بِالآلاَمِ. ¹¹لأَنَّ الْمُقَدِّسَ وَالْمُقَدَّسِينَ جَمِيعَهُمْ مِنْ وَاحِدٍ، فَلِهذَا السَّبَبِ لاَ يَسْتَحِي أَنْ يَدْعُوَهُمْ إِخْوَةً،

A reading from the Holy Gospel according to

Mark 10:2-12 P. Glory to you Lord

The Pharisees approached Jesus and asked, “Is it lawful for a husband to divorce his wife?” They were testing him. He said to them in reply, “What did Moses command you?” They replied, “Moses permitted a husband to write a bill of divorce and dismiss her.”
But Jesus told them, “Because of the hardness of your hearts he wrote you this commandment. But from the beginning of creation, God made them male and female. For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh. So they are no longer two but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, no human being must separate.” In the house the disciples again questioned Jesus about this. He said to them, “Whoever divorces his wife and marries another commits adultery against her; and if she divorces her husband and marries another, she commits adultery.”

ِ إِنْجِيلُ مَرْقُسَ

الأصحَاحُ الْعَاشِرُ

²فَتَقَدَّمَ الْفَرِّيسِيُّونَ وَسَأَلُوهُ:«هَلْ يَحِلُّ لِلرَّجُلِ أَنْ يُطَلِّقَ امْرَأَتَهُ؟» لِيُجَرِّبُوهُ. ³فَأَجَابَ وَقَالَ لَهُمْ:«بِمَاذَا أَوْصَاكُمْ مُوسَى؟» ⁴فَقَالُوا:«مُوسَى أَذِنَ أَنْ يُكْتَبَ كِتَابُ طَلاَق، فَتُطَلَّقُ». ⁵فَأَجَابَ يَسُوعُ وَقَالَ لَهُمْ:«مِنْ أَجْلِ قَسَاوَةِ قُلُوبِكُمْ كَتَبَ لَكُمْ هذِهِ الْوَصِيَّةَ، ⁶وَلكِنْ مِنْ بَدْءِ الْخَلِيقَةِ، ذَكَرًا وَأُنْثَى خَلَقَهُمَا اللهُ. ⁷مِنْ أَجْلِ هذَا يَتْرُكُ الرَّجُلُ أَبَاهُ وَأُمَّهُ وَيَلْتَصِقُ بِامْرَأَتِهِ، ⁸وَيَكُونُ الاثْنَانِ جَسَدًا وَاحِدًا. إِذًا لَيْسَا بَعْدُ اثْنَيْنِ بَلْ جَسَدٌ وَاحِدٌ. ⁹فَالَّذِي جَمَعَهُ اللهُ لاَ يُفَرِّقْهُ إِنْسَانٌ». ¹⁰ثُمَّ فِي الْبَيْتِ سَأَلَهُ تَلاَمِيذُهُ أَيْضًا عَنْ ذلِكَ، ¹¹فَقَالَ لَهُمْ:«مَنْ طَلَّقَ امْرَأَتَهُ وَتَزَوَّجَ بِأُخْرَى يَزْنِي عَلَيْهَا. ¹²وَإِنْ طَلَّقَتِ امْرَأَةٌ زَوْجَهَا وَتَزَوَّجَتْ بِآخَرَ تَزْنِي».

The first reading from

Numbers 11: 25-29

The LORD came down in the cloud and spoke to Moses. Taking some of the spirit that was on Moses, the LORD bestowed it on the seventy elders; and as the spirit came to rest on them, they prophesied. Now two men, one named Eldad and the other Medad,
were not in the gathering but had been left in the camp. They too had been on the list, but had not gone out to the tent; yet the spirit came to rest on them also, and they prophesied in the camp. So, when a young man quickly told Moses, “Eldad and Medad are prophesying in the camp, ” Joshua, son of Nun, who from his youth had been Moses’ aide, said, “Moses, my lord, stop them.” But Moses answered him, “Are you jealous for my sake? Would that all the people of the LORD were prophets! Would that the LORD might bestow his spirit on them all!”

رِسَالَةُ يَعْقُوبَ الأصحَاحُ الْخَامِسُ

بركاته علي جميعنا آمين

¹هَلُمَّ الآنَ أَيُّهَا الأَغْنِيَاءُ، ابْكُوا مُوَلْوِلِينَ عَلَى شَقَاوَتِكُمُ الْقَادِمَةِ. ²غِنَاكُمْ قَدْ تَهَرَّأَ، وَثِيَابُكُمْ قَدْ أَكَلَهَا الْعُثُّ. ³ذَهَبُكُمْ وَفِضَّتُكُمْ قَدْ صَدِئَا، وَصَدَأُهُمَا يَكُونُ شَهَادَةً عَلَيْكُمْ، وَيَأْكُلُ لُحُومَكُمْ كَنَارٍ! قَدْ كَنَزْتُمْ فِي الأَيَّامِ الأَخِيرَةِ. ⁴هُوَذَا أُجْرَةُ الْفَعَلَةِ الَّذِينَ حَصَدُوا حُقُولَكُمُ، الْمَبْخُوسَةُ مِنْكُمْ تَصْرُخُ، وَصِيَاحُ الْحَصَّادِينَ قَدْ دَخَلَ إِلَى أُذْنَيْ رَبِّ الْجُنُودِ. ⁵قَدْ تَرَفَّهْتُمْ عَلَى الأَرْضِ، وَتَنَعَّمْتُمْ وَرَبَّيْتُمْ قُلُوبَكُمْ، كَمَا فِي يَوْمِ الذَّبْحِ. ⁶حَكَمْتُمْ عَلَى الْبَارِّ. قَتَلْتُمُوهُ. لاَ يُقَاوِمُكُمْ!

A reading from the Holy Gospel according to

Mark 9:38-43,45,47-48 P. Glory to you Lord

At that time, John said to Jesus, “Teacher, we saw someone driving out demons in your name, and we tried to prevent him because he does not follow us.” Jesus replied, “Do not prevent him. There is no one who performs a mighty deed in my name who can at the same time speak ill of me. For whoever is not against us is for us. Anyone who gives you a cup of water to drink because you belong to Christ, amen, I say to you, will surely not lose his reward.” Whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him if a great millstone were put around his neck and he were thrown into the sea. If your hand causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter into life maimed than with two hands to go into Gahanna, into the unquenchable fire.
And if your foot causes you to sin, cut if off. It is better for you to enter into life crippled than with two feet to be thrown into Gahanna. And if your eye causes you to sin, pluck it out. Better for you to enter into the kingdom of God with one eye than with two eyes to be thrown into Gahanna, where ‘their worm does not die, and the fire is not quenched.’”

اَلْمَزْمُورِ.

هَلِّلُويَا.

ِ إِنْجِيلُ مَرْقُسَ الأصحَاحُ التَّاسِعُ

³⁸فَأَجَابَهُ يُوحَنَّا قِائِلاً:«يَا مُعَلِّمُ، رَأَيْنَا وَاحِدًا يُخْرِجُ شَيَاطِينَ بِاسْمِكَ وَهُوَ لَيْسَ يَتْبَعُنَا، فَمَنَعْنَاهُ لأَنَّهُ لَيْسَ يَتْبَعُنَا». ³⁹فَقَالَ يَسُوعُ:«لاَ تَمْنَعُوهُ، لأَنَّهُ لَيْسَ أَحَدٌ يَصْنَعُ قُوَّةً بِاسْمِي وَيَسْتَطِيعُ سَرِيعًا أَنْ يَقُولَ عَلَيَّ شَرًّا. ⁴⁰لأَنَّ مَنْ لَيْسَ عَلَيْنَا فَهُوَ مَعَنَا. ⁴¹لأَنَّ مَنْ سَقَاكُمْ كَأْسَ مَاءٍ بِاسْمِي لأَنَّكُمْ لِلْمَسِيحِ، فَالْحَقَّ أَقُولُ لَكُمْ: إِنَّهُ لاَ يُضِيعُ أَجْرَهُ. ⁴²«وَمَنْ أَعْثَرَ أَحَدَ الصِّغَارِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ بِي، فَخَيْرٌ لَهُ لَوْ طُوِّقَ عُنُقُهُ بِحَجَرِ رَحًى وَطُرِحَ فِي الْبَحْرِ. ⁴³وَإِنْ أَعْثَرَتْكَ يَدُكَ فَاقْطَعْهَا. خَيْرٌ لَكَ أَنْ تَدْخُلَ الْحَيَاةَ أَقْطَعَ مِنْ أَنْ تَكُونَ لَكَ يَدَانِ وَتَمْضِيَ إِلَى جَهَنَّمَ، إِلَى النَّارِ الَّتِي لاَ تُطْفَأُ. ⁴⁵وَإِنْ أَعْثَرَتْكَ رِجْلُكَ فَاقْطَعْهَا. خَيْرٌ لَكَ أَنْ تَدْخُلَ الْحَيَاةَ أَعْرَجَ مِنْ أَنْ تَكُونَ لَكَ رِجْلاَنِ وَتُطْرَحَ فِي جَهَنَّمَ فِي النَّارِ الَّتِي لاَ تُطْفَأُ. ⁴⁷وَإِنْ أَعْثَرَتْكَ عَيْنُكَ فَاقْلَعْهَا. خَيْرٌ لَكَ أَنْ تَدْخُلَ مَلَكُوتَ اللهِ أَعْوَرَ مِنْ أَنْ تَكُونَ لَكَ عَيْنَانِ وَتُطْرَحَ فِي جَهَنَّمَ النَّارِ. ⁴⁸حَيْثُ دُودُهُمْ لاَ يَمُوتُ وَالنَّارُ لاَ تُطْفَأُ..

َبِلَنِي فَلَيْسَ يَقْبَلُنِي أَنَا بَلِ الَّذِي أَرْسَلَنِي»..

Mark 9:30-37 P. Glory to you Lord

Jesus and his disciples left from there and began a journey through Galilee, but he did not wish anyone to know about it. He was teaching his disciples and telling them, “The Son of Man is to be handed over to men and they will kill him, and three days after his death the Son of Man will raise.” But they did not understand the saying, and they were afraid to question him. They came to Capernaum and, once inside the house, he began to ask them, “What were you arguing about on the way?” But they remained silent.
They had been discussing among themselves on the way that was the greatest. Then he sat down, called the Twelve, and said to them, “If anyone wishes to be first, he shall be the last of all and the servant of all.” Taking a child, he placed it in the their midst,
and putting his arms around it, he said to them, “Whoever receives one child such as this in my name, receives me; and whoever receives me, receives not me but the One who sent me.”

ِ إِنْجِيلُ مَرْقُسَ

الأصحَاحُ التَّاسِعُ

³⁰وَخَرَجُوا مِنْ هُنَاكَ وَاجْتَازُوا الْجَلِيلَ، وَلَمْ يُرِدْ أَنْ يَعْلَمَ أَحَدٌ، ³¹لأَنَّهُ كَانَ يُعَلِّمُ تَلاَمِيذَهُ وَيَقُولُ لَهُمْ:«إِنَّ ابْنَ الإِنْسَانِ يُسَلَّمُ إِلَى أَيْدِي النَّاسِ فَيَقْتُلُونَهُ. وَبَعْدَ أَنْ يُقْتَلَ يَقُومُ فِي الْيَوْمِ الثَّالِثِ». ³²وَأَمَّا هُمْ فَلَمْ يَفْهَمُوا الْقَوْلَ، وَخَافُوا أَنْ يَسْأَلُوهُ.³³وَجَاءَ إِلَى كَفْرِنَاحُومَ. وَإِذْ كَانَ فِي الْبَيْتِ سَأَلَهُمْ:«بِمَاذَا كُنْتُمْ تَتَكَالَمُونَ فِيمَا بَيْنَكُمْ فِي الطَّرِيقِ؟» ³⁴فَسَكَتُوا، لأَنَّهُمْ تَحَاجُّوا فِي الطَّرِيقِ بَعْضُهُمْ مَعَ بَعْضٍ فِي مَنْ هُوَ أَعْظَمُ. ³⁵فَجَلَسَ وَنَادَى الاثْنَيْ عَشَرَ وَقَالَ لَهُمْ:«إِذَا أَرَادَ أَحَدٌ أَنْ يَكُونَ أَوَّلاً فَيَكُونُ آخِرَ الْكُلِّ وَخَادِمًا لِلْكُلِّ». ³⁶فَأَخَذَ وَلَدًا وَأَقَامَهُ فِي وَسْطِهِمْ ثُمَّ احْتَضَنَهُ وَقَالَ لَهُمْ: ³⁷«مَنْ قَبِلَ وَاحِدًا مِنْ أَوْلاَدٍ مِثْلَ هذَا بِاسْمِي يَقْبَلُنِي، وَمَنْ قَبِلَنِي فَلَيْسَ يَقْبَلُنِي أَنَا بَلِ الَّذِي أَرْسَلَنِي»..

The first reading from

Wis 2: 12,17-20

The wicked say: Let us beset the just one, because he is obnoxious to us; he sets himself against our doings, reproaches us for transgressions of the law and charges us with violations of our training. Let us see whether his words be true; let us find out what will happen to him. For if the just one be the Son of God, God will defend him and deliver him from the hand of his foes.
With revilement and torture let us put the just one to the test that we may have proof of his gentleness and try his patience.
Let us condemn him to a shameful death; for according to his own words, God will take care of him.

رِسَالَةُ يَعْقُوبَ الأصحَاحُ الثَّالِثُ بركاته علي جميعنا آمين

¹⁶لأَنَّهُ حَيْثُ الْغَيْرَةُ وَالتَّحَزُّبُ، هُنَاكَ التَّشْوِيشُ وَكُلُّ أَمْرٍ رَدِيءٍ. ¹⁷وَأَمَّا الْحِكْمَةُ الَّتِي مِنْ فَوْقُ فَهِيَ أَوَّلاً طَاهِرَةٌ، ثُمَّ مُسَالِمَةٌ، مُتَرَفِّقَةٌ، مُذْعِنَةٌ، مَمْلُوَّةٌ رَحْمَةً وَأَثْمَارًا صَالِحَةً، عَدِيمَةُ الرَّيْبِ وَالرِّيَاءِ. ¹⁸وَثَمَرُ الْبِرِّ يُزْرَعُ فِي السَّلاَمِ مِنَ الَّذِينَ يَفْعَلُونَ السَّلاَمَ. ¹مِنْ أَيْنَ الْحُرُوبُ وَالْخُصُومَاتُ بَيْنَكُمْ؟ أَلَيْسَتْ مِنْ هُنَا: مِنْ لَذَّاتِكُمُ الْمُحَارِبَةِ فِي أَعْضَائِكُمْ؟ ²تَشْتَهُونَ وَلَسْتُمْ تَمْتَلِكُونَ. تَقْتُلُونَ وَتَحْسِدُونَ وَلَسْتُمْ تَقْدِرُونَ أَنْ تَنَالُوا. تُخَاصِمُونَ وَتُحَارِبُونَ وَلَسْتُمْ تَمْتَلِكُونَ، لأَنَّكُمْ لاَ تَطْلُبُونَ ³تَطْلُبُونَ وَلَسْتُمْ تَأْخُذُونَ، لأَنَّكُمْ تَطْلُبُونَ رَدِيًّا لِكَيْ تُنْفِقُوا فِي لَذَّاتِكُمْ.

Mark 8:27-35 P. Glory to you Lord

Jesus and his disciples set out for the villages of Caesarea Philippi. Along the way he asked his disciples, “Who do people say that I am?” They said in reply, “John the Baptist, others Elijah, still others one of the prophets.” And he asked them, “But who do you say that I am?” Peter said to him in reply, “You are the Christ.” Then he warned them not to tell anyone about him. He began to teach them that the Son of Man must suffer greatly and be rejected by the elders, the chief priests, and the scribes, and be killed, and rise after three days. He spoke this openly. Then Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him. At this he turned around and, looking at his disciples, rebuked Peter and said, “Get behind me, Satan. You are thinking not as God does, but as human beings do.”

الأصحَاحُ الثَّامِنُ

²⁷ثُمَّ خَرَجَ يَسُوعُ وَتَلامِيذُهُ إِلَى قُرَى قَيْصَرِيَّةِ فِيلُبُّسَ. وَفِي الطَّرِيقِ سَأَلَ تَلاَمِيذَهُ قِائِلاً لَهُمْ: «مَنْ يَقُولُ النَّاسُ إِنِّي أَنَا؟» ²⁸فَأَجَابُوا:«يُوحَنَّا الْمَعْمَدَانُ. وَآخَرُونَ: إِيلِيَّا. وَآخَرُونَ: وَاحِدٌ مِنَ الأَنْبِيَاءِ». ²⁹فَقَالَ لَهُمْ:«وَأَنْتُمْ، مَنْ تَقُولُونَ إِنِّي أَنَا؟» فَأَجَابَ بُطْرُسُ وَقَالَ لَهُ:«أَنْتَ الْمَسِيحُ!» ³⁰فَانْتَهَرَهُمْ كَيْ لاَ يَقُولُوا لأَحَدٍ عَنْهُ.³¹وَابْتَدَأَ يُعَلِّمُهُمْ أَنَّ ابْنَ الإِنْسَانِ يَنْبَغِي أَنْ يَتَأَلَّمَ كَثِيرًا، وَيُرْفَضَ مِنَ الشُّيُوخِ وَرُؤَسَاءِ الْكَهَنَةِ وَالْكَتَبَةِ، وَيُقْتَلَ، وَبَعْدَ ثَلاَثَةِ أَيَّامٍ يَقُومُ. ³²وَقَالَ الْقَوْلَ عَلاَنِيَةً. فَأَخَذَهُ بُطْرُسُ إِلَيْهِ وَابْتَدَأَ يَنْتَهِرُهُ. ³³فَالْتَفَتَ وَأَبْصَرَ تَلاَمِيذَهُ، فَانْتَهَرَ بُطْرُسَ قَائِلاً: «اذْهَبْ عَنِّي يَا شَيْطَانُ! لأَنَّكَ لاَ تَهْتَمُّ بِمَا ِللهِ لكِنْ بِمَا لِلنَّاسِ».³⁴وَدَعَا الْجَمْعَ مَعَ تَلاَمِيذِهِ وَقَالَ لَهُمْ:«مَنْ أَرَادَ أَنْ يَأْتِيَ وَرَائِي فَلْيُنْكِرْ نَفْسَهُ وَيَحْمِلْ صَلِيبَهُ وَيَتْبَعْنِي. ³⁵فَإِنَّ مَنْ أَرَادَ أَنْ يُخَلِّصَ نَفْسَهُ يُهْلِكُهَا، وَمَنْ يُهْلِكُ نَفْسَهُ مِنْ أَجْلِي وَمِنْ أَجْلِ الإِنْجِيلِ فَهُوَ يُخَلِّصُهَا.

Isaiah 50: 5-9

The Lord GOD opens my ear that I may hear; and I have not rebelled, have not turned back. I gave my back to those who beat me,
my cheeks to those who plucked my beard; my face I did not shield from buffets and spitting. The Lord GOD is my help; therefore I am not disgraced; I have set my face like flint, knowing that I shall not be put to shame. He is near who upholds my right; if anyone wishes to oppose me, let us appear together. Who disputes my right? Let that man confront me. See, the Lord GOD is my help;
who will prove me wrong?

¹⁴مَا الْمَنْفَعَةُ يَا إِخْوَتِي إِنْ قَالَ أَحَدٌ إِنَّ لَهُ إِيمَانًا وَلكِنْ لَيْسَ لَهُ أَعْمَالٌ، هَلْ يَقْدِرُ الإِيمَانُ أَنْ يُخَلِّصَهُ؟ ¹⁵إِنْ كَانَ أَخٌ وَأُخْتٌ عُرْيَانَيْنِ وَمُعْتَازَيْنِ لِلْقُوتِ الْيَوْمِيِّ، ¹⁶فَقَالَ لَهُمَا أَحَدُكُمُ:«امْضِيَا بِسَلاَمٍ، اسْتَدْفِئَا وَاشْبَعَا» وَلكِنْ لَمْ تُعْطُوهُمَا حَاجَاتِ الْجَسَدِ، فَمَا الْمَنْفَعَةُ؟ ¹⁷هكَذَا الإِيمَانُ أَيْضًا، إِنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ أَعْمَالٌ، مَيِّتٌ فِي ذَاتِهِ. ¹⁸لكِنْ يَقُولُ قَائِلٌ:«أَنْتَ لَكَ إِيمَانٌ، وَأَنَا لِي أَعْمَالٌ» أَرِنِي إِيمَانَكَ بِدُونِ أَعْمَالِكَ، وَأَنَا أُرِيكَ بِأَعْمَالِي إِيمَانِي.
